Andrea Curry-Demus has been charged with criminal homicide, kidnapping and other charges in the slaying of 18-year-old Kia Johnson. Her body was found in Curry-Demus' apartment on July 18.
Authorities say the 39-year-old woman tried to pass off Johnson's son as her own. They said the two women met several days before while visiting inmates at a jail.
Curry-Demus' attorney, Angela Carsia, says her client has a history of mental problems, but another judge has rejected defense arguments that's she's mentally incompetent.
