Inside Iraq - McClatchy Newspapers

Life is full with contrasts. Yesterday I witnessed two different cases which made me feel happy and sad at the same time.

On the 18th anniversary of bringing down the Berlin's Wall; the hope inside me grew up to get rid of all Baghdad Walls.

If someone told me that they went to Dora and they don't live there, I would say that this person is crazy. This craziness happened today I was the crazy one. I went to Dora.

For several months Baghdadi residents had got relief from car bombs which cause death and chaos in our capital. That thing didn't last as we had six car bombs within the last seven days in Baghdad alone. Thus, the security plan which started about twenty months ago had failed to end the roadside bombs, mortars, assassinations and at least car bombs.

Look at the world – where is peace?

          According to the Iraqi constitution; the provincial election should be implemented this year. Like any other country on this earth; the Iraqi political blocs use every single issue to win the hearts of the electors.

  Two days ago there was a session for the parliament to assess what they had achieved and done for the Iraqi people whom they represent. Even this point they didn't reach a point on it.

In any nation, the army is the protector of the people.

Wallahi, I do understand that it is perhaps a cherished dream for any ethnic group to have a "national homeland" of its own. I appreciate the feeling.

          Its very normal when people demand the government to its duties. Its also normal if the government demands people to do their duties but is it normal to demand ourself to do something? Did any of you once demanded himslef or herself to do something? Don't feel confused and dont think that I lost my mind.   

In the anniversary of 11th September explosions, I would like to console the families of the innocent victims of the terrible explosions in that sad day.

          The guards of the minister of the displaced people and migrant opened fire randomly in downtown Baghdad.

   Spying on Al-Maliki government aroused the idea of how much trust that the American have for the Iraqi government and a sign that they turned against him.

At the beginning I want to say Ramadan Kareem for all of you.Ramadan, the month of fasting for Muslims, started few days ago.

          I'm not an economist and I have a very limited background about economy since its a very big science but when economy contradicts logic I try to find an explanation.

          It is summer in Iraq as it is in the northern half of earth but summer in Iraq is something different.

          It was about 10:30 a.m. when I got in a mini bus to come to the office.

I wish that the American forces + British forces + Iraqi forces + forces from other countries were capable of stopping the killings in Baghdad for one day without imposing a full curfew.

   The minister of education was on one of the local T.V channels last week.

          Before leaving the house, my wife told me that while she got some news about a plan for building the biggest Ferris wheel in the world in Baghdad.

          My first memories of the Olympic Game are from 1980 when the games were held in the USSR. I was only ten years old. i kept waiting for the Olympic Games. Getting older made me realize a very important fact. Big goals need iron will. The ongoing Olympic Games confirmed this truth to me.

Breaking Promises

Today Iraqis remember the anniversary of the greatest day of Iraq history the day of "great victory". In such day before twenty years Iraqis get rid of the ghost of Iranian war. This war harvested the lives of hundreds thousands of Iraqis innocent people. Eight years of sorrow and grief, eight years Iraqi mothers are losing their loved sons, husbands, and even innocent children.

          Since the last week until now, we have been waiting for the news about approving the provincial election law but our great parliament couldn't reach a deal that end the disagreements about this law.

Yesterday afternoon I went to the International Zone(IZ) in central Baghdad where the government and Coalition headquarters are  located, not to meet an official nor to attend a press conference for them, but to go to Diyala.

I can not understand why our government tries to bring back abroadIraqis. This is something very strange. Thousands of Iraqis insideIraq like me ignore the reasons of these demands.

          One of the gifts of God to Iraqis is their ability to make fun of everything. Without this great gift, I think there would be no Iraqi people because we are the nation that has the best relation with Sadness and pain.
